It Started with a WhatsApp Group
Like most great modern love stories, ours didn't start in a café, at a party, or in a dramatic rom-com moment where someone drops their coffee and we lock eyes across the room.
No.
Ours started in a mutual friend's WhatsApp group — the true soulmate-finding hotspot of the 21st century.
Somewhere between group chat chaos, random messages, and people definitely not replying on time, Tom slid into the conversation and did what can only be described as the most effective courting technique known to mankind...
And honestly, that was it. Natascha saw Tilly's face and immediately knew: this man is either the one… or at the very least, he's going to be extremely hard to ignore.
Tom's first impression of Natascha was slightly more normal (and significantly less dog-based). He thought she was sweet, kind, caring, and noticed how much interest she showed in him — which is a polite way of saying she gave him attention and he was instantly hooked.
From there, the conversation became one of those "accidentally all day" things — and the more we talked, the more it became obvious we were falling into something that felt easy, natural, and just… right.
The "Oh... This is Something" Moment
Tom realized things were serious when Natascha casually revealed one of her most iconic relationship traits:
She would pretend to fall asleep to avoid having to text "good night"…
…so she could carry the conversation on the next day.
Not only is this genius, it is also the kind of slightly unhinged honesty that Tom instantly adored.
There was also the moment we went out "as friends" and Tom found himself wanting to give Natascha a hug and kiss — which is usually a strong sign that you're no longer in the "just mates" category.
The Chippy Mission
For Natascha, the moment she knew Tom was the one was much more romantic.
Not in the "sunset walk on the beach" way.
More in the "this man has made me walk MILES for a chippy" way.
And somehow… that was the moment.
Because nothing says commitment like surviving a long trek for chips and still choosing love at the end of it.
The First Proper Date
Our first proper date was Slug & Lettuce, followed by the Sea World Centre — which is a combination that sounds like something you'd come up with after saying "we should do something cute" and then immediately committing to it.
It was one of those dates that didn't feel awkward or forced. It just felt like we were already in our own little world — the kind where you're laughing constantly, talking about everything and nothing, and accidentally making memories without even trying.
Early Relationship Chaos
(aka proof we're meant to be)
One of our earliest moments that still makes us laugh to this day is the time Natascha launched Tom off the bed.
There's no elegant way to explain it.
There's no version of it where Tom wins.
It was simply one of those moments where you realize: yes, I am in love… and yes, I might also be in danger.
And honestly, that balance has worked really well for us.
What We Love Doing Together
If you know us, you'll know we're happiest doing the simple things:
- 🎲 Playing board games (competitively, obviously)
- 🎮 Gaming until the early hours
- ✨ Generally just vibing (which is a real activity, and we take it seriously)
We're the kind of couple who can have the best time doing absolutely nothing — as long as we're doing it together.
What We Love Most About Each Other
Natascha loves Tom for his caring nature, his calmness, and his ability to take even the worst moments and somehow turn them into something lighter, better, and more manageable. Tom is the kind of person who makes you feel safe without even trying.
Tom loves that Natascha is completely, unapologetically true to herself — always. She's the person who will say what everyone else is thinking, deliver a perfect one-liner at the exact right moment, and still be the first one to have your back no matter what.
The Most "Us" Things About Us
If you've spent more than five minutes with us, you'll know:
- 👑 Natascha is the queen of witty one-liners and will always be in Tom's corner, even if he's wrong (especially if he's wrong).
- 🚶 Tom is the king of walking off and doing random things, usually with full confidence and no explanation, like a man being guided by invisible side quests.
Somehow, it works perfectly.
And Now…
Somewhere between dog photos, chippy missions, Slug & Lettuce dates, and Tom's constant wandering, we ended up building something that feels like home.
We're best friends, teammates, and each other's favourite person — and we cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with all the people we love most.
Thanks for being part of our story.
Now please come to the wedding, have a drink, and witness the chaos.
